SILVER PLATED FASTENERS
Silver plated fasteners are used where high contact loads squeeze ordinary lubricants out of the thread and bearing faces. Silver is soft and has a low shear strength, so a thin plated layer works as a dry lubricant and helps prevent galling and seizure.
Silver does not oxidise significantly at elevated temperature, which is why silver plated nuts and studs are chosen for hot joints such as exhaust and turbine connections. We supply silver plated bolts, screws, studs and nuts, in free-running or self-locking styles, on standard and special fasteners.
